And so it was that for several months I eyed an ad in the Wine Enthusiast<\/span><\/a><\/span> catalog for a glass called the Fusion Classic.\u00a0 It came in six different models depending on the type of wine you intended to use it for.\u00a0 I elected to purchase the Chardonnay glass because I think it\u2019s useful as an all-purpose vessel\u2026whites and reds look and taste great in it.\u00a0 I paid $49.95 for four, including free shipping.<\/p>\n

Equally important, the glass was touted as break-resistant.\u00a0 Specifically, the ad read: \u00a0\u201cEuropean crystal is fused with super-strong magnesium to form a durable, lightweight, graceful wine glass.\u00a0 Science meets sophistication, and the result is shatterproof.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 Hmmmm.<\/p>\n

But I couldn\u2019t lose with the purchase since the stemware came with a 10-year replacement policy. Ten years.\u00a0 Break a Fusion glass and get a replacement at no cost.\u00a0 So I placed my order and waited eagerly for the UPS truck to come lumbering up my driveway.<\/p>\n

Fast forward two months after my original purchase.\u00a0 I have now broken four of the glasses.\u00a0 I cannot say they are the original four since I was being sent replacements almost as fast as I was breaking them.\u00a0 And how did they meet their demise?<\/p>\n
